Touch controls that actually work on a phone
Nobody praises good touch controls, but everybody notices bad ones. A virtual joystick that drifts, buttons placed under your thumb, input lag that turns a tight jump into a death. These are the quiet killers of mobile games.
The best games design around the screen instead of fighting it. Coin Strike's flick mechanic and Neon Dust Rally's tilt steering both feel native to touch rather than ported from a controller.
When I review something, I spend the first twenty minutes just paying attention to my hands. Am I covering the screen? Are my thumbs cramping? Did I die because of me or because of the game? That last question matters most.
If a developer reads this: give us options. Let players swap between tilt and buttons, let us resize and reposition things. Different hands, different phones, different grips. One fixed layout almost never fits everyone.
